Working with the NHS

We’re keen to work with NHS Trusts and Boards to offer our services and benefits to current retiring staff across the country.

Across England, Scotland and Wales we are establishing good relationships with NHS Trusts and Boards who recognise the value of partnership with the NHS Retirement Fellowship to support retiring and retired staff. We share your value on wellbeing and we know you don’t stop being a proud NHS employee when you leave the ward or department.

We provide more than half a million years’ worth of NHS experience and expertise – an incredible value for NHS organisations undergoing consultation and change. We’re a ready group to support NHS organisations with volunteers, members and governors, charity supporters and a whole range of other purposes.

We believe that working directly with NHS organisations across England, Scotland and Wales is vital to our sustainability and growth. Please contact us on 0800 915 1455 or email comms@nhsrf.org.uk to talk through how we can support your retiring and retired staff in partnership.

We are incredibly proud that our National Health Service Retirement Fellowship was established in 1978 and continues to flourish. It’s fantastic we have such an active community of people who have been part of the NHS. It’s a great place to continue to feel part of the NHS once retirement has begun and we absolutely encourage everyone to join!

The Trust has enjoyed a long and successful relationship with the large branch based in Huddersfield. Our branch has enjoyed special access to the new emergency unit at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and shared some of their experiences with current staff. With links between the foundation trust’s Council of Governors and the branch, both get to promote each other to their audiences. And recently the Trust’s charity has relied on the support of the branch to help raise funds and awareness of the work that they do.

The Huddersfield NHS Retirement Fellowship have played an important role in supporting CHFT Charity's events and activities throughout the past year, from greeting our 10k walkers back to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary with a cuppa, to wrapping patient Christmas gifts, to hosting tombola and book stalls for us. Team Sheila, as we like to call them, always have a happy and friendly approach to anyone who walks through our doors or participates in our events, creating a calming and comfortable atmosphere. We have loved working with the team and look forward to future opportunities to make an amazing difference to the people of Huddersfield - thank you #TeamSheila!

From the start of our journey with the NHS Retirement Fellowship team, the guidance and support we have received has been much appreciated. Forging links with a charitable organisation has introduced benefits, support and opportunities for our staff to ensure they remain connected with colleagues, past and present. As a Trust we have been on an exciting journey, discovering the added value that the Fellowship brings to our workforce. We’re looking forward to the next steps in getting our local branch up and running!

NHS Scotland

In Scotland we are proud of the long standing relationship we have with NHS Scotland and the Scottish Government. Over the past couple of years we have been pleased to welcome former First Minister Humza Yousef whilst he was Minister for Health and Social Care and Jason Leitch, Senior Clinical Advisor to the Scottish Government who enjoyed afternoon tea with members from our Edinburgh branch and enjoyed listening to their stories and experiences. Jason also took part in a special Q&A session with us answering members questions. We also enjoyed the company of John Hardman, Deputy Medical Director for NHS Scotland who visited our Scottish Federation AGM meeting in Perth and took part in a Q&A session with our chief executive Mike Seaton. We know that these key people in the government value the Fellowship and want to work in partnership with us to support retiring and retired staff across Scotland. We hope to welcome more senior staff to more of our meetings across Scotland over the next 12-18 months.
