Our benefits

Your membership of the NHS Retirement Fellowship gives you access to our growing range of benefits.

Our flagship travel insurance benefit

Our most popular benefit is our special travel insurance policy that we have established with our partners at the Civil Service Insurance Society (CSIS) and underwriters PJ Hayman.

If you join before the age of 74 this annual policy provides single or multi trip options and, with very few exceptions, no medical screening. Our members save hundreds of pounds and get to fulfill trips that otherwise would be out of reach.

Please note, you must keep up your NHS Retirement Fellowship membership or your policy will be invalid.

Where will you travel?

And once you’ve got that travel insurance policy in place, you want to think about where you might like to travel to. That’s where our partnerships with a number of different travel providers also give real benefit to your NHS Retirement Fellowship membership.

We’re taking over one of Riviera Travel’s cruises in the Burgundy area of France next March – we’d love to see you onboard! And we’re offering members a holiday to Malta this September. We also provide discounts with Riviera, Fred Olsen Cruises and Wendy Wu Travel.

Benefits closer to home

Whilst nothing can beat the benefit of enjoying the company of friends in the Fellowship and spending time with them, we do offer a range of benefits closer to home. We work with a range of insurance providers and estate management services to offer our members financial savings and peace of mind. These include:

  • Accord Will Services provides a free will writing service
  • Total Motor Assist provide 12 months free motor assistance with no hidden costs
  • Thompsons Solicitors offers legal services to members including road accidents, slips and trips and diseases contracted by previous employment
  • Savings at Cartridge World, Snow and Rock, Runners World and others.

We also work with Blue Light Card and Tax Assist to provide our members with access to their benefits and discounts too.

Our own range of benefits

And there’s our own range of benefits including our book club, photography group and newsletters.

Is there a benefit you would like to see us develop for you? Contact our benefits lead, Lucia Hiden, on comms@nhsrf.org.uk to discuss what you think is missing.

I joined the NHSRF in 2012 three weeks after I retired. I enjoyed meeting up with old friends and new and quickly became involved with the Scottish Federation, now chairing it. I have attended a few conferences over the years and enjoyed them all, being able to network with likeminded people up and down the country. The thing I have most enjoyed is being a country rep for Scotland and attending Members Council meetings.
