Liverpool branch helps the BBC
On Monday 5th November BBC1 showed a series looking at how ordinary people played a part in Britain’s Wartime Victory. Sue Johnston finds out how nurses like her aunt battled through the bombing to treat the injured.
The Liverpool Branch Secretary was contacted to see if there was anyone at the branch that could help with this programme. One of our members was the husband of the Consultant who started the Plastic Surgery department that Sue Johnston’s Aunty May worked in. We were able to provide the diary that the consultant had kept which showed how many air raids there was each day and his memories of the time.
We have passed a copy of the programme to the 70 Digital Archive Liverpool so that the programme will be available for everyone to see.
