Our Branch

We offer a very warm welcome to all those who have retired from the NHS and Social Care sector. If you are still working, a spouse or a partner, you are also welcome as associate members.

There is an interesting and varied programme of talks, activities and visits which keeps members up to date with developments in health and social care, arranges talks and outings, and provides opportunities to promote the well-being of our members.

Whilst there are a few office holders, the whole membership is involved in deciding what we do.

Who we are

Mainly from the health sector, we have members including backgrounds in administration, secretarial, nursing, medicine and management.

Some of our members contribute to the national NHS PLACE programme (Patient Lead Assessment of the Care Environment). This is a system for assessing the quality of the patient environment and applies to hospitals, hospices and day treatment centres providing NHS funded care. The assessments are done by teams of local people who assess how the environment supports patient’s privacy and dignity, food, cleanliness and general building maintenance.

Other members belong to HealthWatch who are the consumer champions for health and social care, shaping health and social care delivery, influencing the services provided, and holding services to account.

Benefits include:

Benevolent Fund, Civil Service Club membership, Civil Service Insurance Society, Estate Planning, Financial advice, Golf tournament, HealthWatch, Legal Services, National newsletter, Shopping discounts, Tax help and advice. Full information in a separate leaflet.
